Very lucidly, Enzo Mari decided to realize this tables collection with transparent crystal tops in order to valorise the harsh simplicity of steel sections bases. Designed in 1973 for Driade, uninterruptedly producted since then, these pieces can be certainly numbered among the most successful of the Milan master.
The deep and rounded seat invites to relax and talk. A perfect balance of the volume of the body which perfectly combines with the characteristic support structure, thus defining a new idea of ??the “cockpit” type. Originally created to seat visitors in the dining rooms of the Royal Festival Hall, the RFH Armchair by Robin Day is charactericed by the softly curved backrest and outwardly reaching arms. Rich in materiality, the chair’s striking form is achieved through a process of form-press moulding layers of beech and walnut veneer.
The chair, inspired by a model from 1930 by Josef Hoffmann, blends his interest in Art Nouveau and simple shapes with manufacturing processes applied in Bystrice pod Hostynem since 1861. The armchair is therefore more geometrical, but bears the clear features of the manual bending technique of TON.
