Designed by Bernard Schottlander
As admirer of Alexander Calder, in 1951 Schottlander created the Mantis series of lamps. Movement is intrinsic to all of Schottlander’s work: an artist, an engineer and in no small measure a handyman, he devised a clever system of counterweights combined with a series of strong, and flexible metal bars. The shade also is unique of its kind. Like an acrobat suspended in mid-air, it is made from aluminium using spinning and chasing techniques that are a part of the metalworker???Ǩ?Ѣs inventory of skills, but to which he has brought his sculptor???Ǩ?Ѣs eye to create a helical movement in which the symmetrical and the asymmetrical are in opposition.
Finishes:
Adjustable shade and stem, structure in steel and shade in aluminium in black
Dimensions:
W520-820 x D220 x H650-830 mm
Wattage:
11W, E14

A 1969 design that combines linear shapes with the extreme quality of materials, such as the hand-blown glass of diffusers. Aiming to manage the different volumes of the space with a single design: ceiling, wall, floor and table.

Hard on the outside, and soft on the inside. Designed to work on the bathroom space, specific to the time of morning or evening. An elegant light for an object that plays with intimacy. Inspired by the shades of dawn or dusk, to be tender is to be enlightened like a single cloud standing out […]
The Dot Collection combines the directness of exposed, spherical bulbs with the rich materiality of brass. Focused, geometric compositions contain these two features, balancing line, surface, and luminous points.

In 1946, Vico Magistretti conceived Claritas, his first lighting design, which conceptually aimed for clarity and brightness. In a context of reconstruction and reconversion of the war industry, for the first time Magistretti used bent metal tubes and a curved aluminium sheet as a reflector, which could be oriented and regulated, ensuring the desired lighting […]
