Designed by Bernard Schottlander
As admirer of Alexander Calder, in 1951 Schottlander created the Mantis series of lamps. Movement is intrinsic to all of Schottlander’s work: an artist, an engineer and in no small measure a handyman, he devised a clever system of counterweights combined with a series of strong, and flexible metal bars. The shade also is unique of its kind. Like an acrobat suspended in mid-air, it is made from aluminium using spinning and chasing techniques that are a part of the metalworker???Ǩ?Ѣs inventory of skills, but to which he has brought his sculptor???Ǩ?Ѣs eye to create a helical movement in which the symmetrical and the asymmetrical are in opposition.
Finishes:
Adjustable shade and stem, structure in steel and shade in aluminium in black
Dimensions:
W1530 x D470 x H500-1400 mm

Designed in 1951, the Daystak Table exemplifies Robin Day’s meticulous attention to detail and celebration of the material at hand. Showcasing the same striking, A-shaped legs as the Daystak Side Chair and Desk, the table sits in tandem with the rest of the collection to create a distinctly mid-century ensemble.

What makes the Wire Stool indicatively Verner Panton is the use of stainless-steel wire to create a simple geometric shape with repeated patterns, in a stackable stool that doubles as a side table. An icon from the archives destined to become a collectible, the airy transparency makes it a versatile design suitable for a vast […]

The starting point of AARO was a gesture. A movement. Simon Schmitz wanted to create an as fluid motion as possible, which immediately lead him to the sphere. A sphere has so many fantastic attributes. With a sphere as a joint they are no limited directions, it has no left or right, no top or […]

Designed by Charlotte Perriand for her mountain chalet Le Vieux Matelot, Applique Cylindrique is a design that dates back to the early 1930s. Her interest in pivoting screens reflects her observation on human gestures: a simple touch allows to direct the lampshade and to control the light beam, making it possible to adjust intensity and […]
