Designed by Bernard Schottlander
As admirer of Alexander Calder, in 1951 Schottlander created the Mantis series of lamps. Movement is intrinsic to all of Schottlander’s work: an artist, an engineer and in no small measure a handyman, he devised a clever system of counterweights combined with a series of strong, and flexible metal bars. The shade also is unique of its kind. Like an acrobat suspended in mid-air, it is made from aluminium using spinning and chasing techniques that are a part of the metalworker???Ǩ?Ѣs inventory of skills, but to which he has brought his sculptor???Ǩ?Ѣs eye to create a helical movement in which the symmetrical and the asymmetrical are in opposition.

Adjustable shade and stem, structure in steel and shade in aluminium in black

W690-1080 x D290 x H1550-1700 mm

Originally designed in 1959, the X table exemplifies the pinnacle of Hvidt & Mølgaard’s work as creative collaborators. Revived from family archives, the table draws its unique design from ancient Egyptian folding chairs. Based on the same principles as the X chair, for which it was originally created to complement, the X table showcases the […]
The Bolda Collection is the result of a creative dialogue with South Korean designer Kwangho Lee. The wall light translates the sculptural essence of the collection into a compact, architectural form. Unlike the suspension models, where the portholes opens into empty space, the wall version rests against a solid aluminum back panel, echoing the top […]

The Stellar Dust lighting is composed of countless speckles that seem to float through space. Both optical illusions and the remarkable effects of these crystal components perfectly juxtapose modern interiors. The crystal-clear color and universal round shape add to its versatility. This collection was originally designed for J&T Bank in Prague by CMC Architects, and […]
