Designed by Bernard Schottlander
As admirer of Alexander Calder, in 1951 Schottlander created the Mantis series of lamps. Movement is intrinsic to all of Schottlander’s work: an artist, an engineer and in no small measure a handyman, he devised a clever system of counterweights combined with a series of strong, and flexible metal bars. The shade also is unique of its kind. Like an acrobat suspended in mid-air, it is made from aluminium using spinning and chasing techniques that are a part of the metalworker???Ǩ?Ѣs inventory of skills, but to which he has brought his sculptor???Ǩ?Ѣs eye to create a helical movement in which the symmetrical and the asymmetrical are in opposition.

Adjustable shade and stem, structure in steel and shade in aluminium in black

W690-1080 x D740 x H1550-1700 mm

Sometimes the simplest things are the most lasting and memorable, the Topan pendant being a brilliant example. It was the first mass produced lamp by Verner Panton, later to be followed by the Flowerpot. TopanÕs simplicity and coolness proves to be evergreen.

How can one design a pendant light, wall sconce, or ceiling fixture that is both discreet and refined? A luminaire that seamlessly blends into a space without overpowering it, while evoking the timeless elegance of Art Deco, reinterpreted with a modern touch. Frank Lloyd Wright had already explored this idea with the fa?ade of the […]

Resulting from a constant research on essential shapes and a project to miniaturise the components, Fix represents the harmonious link between space and light: clean lines, compact dimensions and a new optical system housed in a square die-cast aluminium silhouette. A double light beam of 100? emphasises light control through a very delicate and natural […]
