Tables, for a designer, are somehow suspended between architecture and sculpture. Littman visualize this suspension in Lybra project, by emphasizing the steel supporting beam, making it evident through the top transparency and giving it the value of a craftwork.

Even a classical image, as a railed chair, in the hands of Philippe Starck acquires a particular connotation. In Pip-e, the sequence of horizontal elements, which create the seat and back definetly, takes on a strong chiaroscuro and goes, unexpectedly, to accompany the bending of the knees.
Design has recently begun to reread the last 80s, a period full of hedonistic sings. Ludovica and Roberto Palomba embrace this input in a collection for driade that combines some of this aesthetic hallmarks as straight cast-aluminium structure elegantly painted and damier decoration.
If there is something that defines the Kotai table collection, it is precisely its soundness, as its own Japanese name denotes.
