The sectional sofa is the theme characterizing typological design since the 90s of last century. Originally created to seat visitors in the dining rooms of the Royal Festival Hall, the RFH Armchair by Robin Day is charactericed by the softly curved backrest and outwardly reaching arms. Rich in materiality, the chair’s striking form is achieved through a process of form-press moulding layers of beech and walnut veneer.
Created in 1958 for the interior of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan, this chair is designed to combine comfort and stackability. The same concept was revived for contemporary settings, but with a fundamental difference: unlike the iron frame of the original project, it is now in warm ash wood.
