The name of this collection refers to pearls, specifically the Japanese female pearl divers called Ama. In Japanese, the word ama refers to a ?woman of the sea? ? a female pearl diver who traditionally collected pearls in Japan over centuries. There are two available construction variations of the mounting that may be preconfigured and determine whether the shell will be opened or closed, evoking real-life pearl mussels. ?These lights enable beautiful combinations of opened and closed shells, always creating an original constellation,? Vaclav Mlynar explains.
Each glass shell is produced by using a special glassmaking technique. Over the course of two days, the glass is heated and gradually melts by its own weight into a prepared conical mold. Ama lighting comes in both opened and closed versions that work beautifully as individual pieces or natural groupings into mussel clusters.

Two crystal shells surround a light source nested in a precise mounting within either glossy anthracite or brushed gold tones. The glass shell carries a rippling patterned imprint. The Laurent Collection distills the milk globe to its essential relationship between circle and sphere. A series of thin forms compliment the Laurent globes?forms that carve through space, moving between line, surface, and volume. These forms combine in endless patterns, making it possible for an installation of Laurent lamps to inhabit any space with subtlety […]

Like distant stars, these seemingly small lighted objects impress with both their design and craft. The light source is placed within a mouth-blown piece, shining from the center of a precisely cut crystal star. This Bomma collection is characterized by combining seemingly incompatible contrasts ? light and darkness in an exact vision of the creator […]
