The airy, cloud-like shade that characterises New Works? Tense Pendant is continued in an intriguing table lamp. Its flowing shape is crafted from tightened carbon rods and light, durable, and 100% recyclable Tyvek, which is washed to achieve the appealing crinkled effect. Resting in an almost vertical position on a streamlined base, the Tense Table Lamp provides ample opportunity to enjoy the shade?s beautiful texture and soft diffusion of light. The battery-powered light can easily be moved around where light is needed and both colour temperature and brightness can be adjusted to the desired ambiance. Charging is conducted with a magnetic charging cable, which attaches seamlessly to the base and can be left in without disturbing the look of the lamp.

As admirer of Alexander Calder, in 1951 Schottlander created the Mantis series of lamps. Movement is intrinsic to all of Schottlander’s work: an artist, an engineer and in no small measure a handyman, he devised a clever system of counterweights combined with a series of strong, and flexible metal bars. Bringing the soft illumination of its pendant predecessor, the Lantern Floor Lamp extends this iconic family. Inspired by the traditional Japanese rice paper lantern, the frosted glass form replicates that weightless glow. Firmly keeping this sculptural shape centre stage, a simple black steel base raises up its warm glow.
