Huma chair is a project trying to preserve the classic philosophy of rattan production process while engaging in a research for greater comfort through the use of flexible ribs in its shell-shaped backrest and its upholstered seat.
“MT”, or the initials that calls these pieces designed by Ron Arad, are pronounced in English as “empty”. The void is the key element of this project. This project is born from the wish to recover rattan as a fine material and reclaim Spain?s rich craftsmanship tradition. Oscar Tusquets tries to give a new look to an ancient technique replacing the brackets and bonds traditionally used as connecting elements by the twinning of one cane to the next.

The technopolymer shell of Babila chair recalls the wooden version but takes full advantage of elasticity and three-dimensionality of the plastic material, in order to offer the greatest comfort in a new smarter look. A delicate moulding characterizes the back.
